The Chicago Cougars buried the New York Imperials, 12-1, under a barrage of hits. Charlie Sanders led the onslaught, going 3-for-5 for Chicago. With the win over New York, the Cougars improved to 41-60.

With Chicago leading 9-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Sanders came up to bat against New York pitcher Stan Boone. Sanders hit a changeup to left for a 3-run home run. His 8th home run of the season put the Cougars on top, 12-1.

"We put the pedal to the metal," said Sanders.
