| Kansas City Wins, 6-4 | The Mavericks grabbed a win, 6-4, at Lakefront Park, overcoming a fine effort from Milwaukee pitcher Fred Smith. Smith went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. Jack Turner was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 21 save opportunities. The win has Kansas City at 38-59.
The Mavericks beat the Arrows in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Chuck Cohen produced in the top of the seventh. Batting against Ben Ginsberg, Cohen gave his team the lead, 5-4, when he hit a 2-run single.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Kansas City manager Bob Bendick.
