The performance of Jim Marshall proved critical in helping Houston beat Washington, 8-6, in 13 innings. The Comets third baseman went 2 for 5 with 2 singles and 3 walks. He scored 2 times. Houston reliever Dutch Lane picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Vance Smith was saddled with the loss. Bob Young nailed down his 12th save.
