Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Wilshire Park.

Los Angeles got a terrific game from first baseman Harry Dellinger. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Detroit, 5-4. Dellinger was 5-5 with a double, 4 singles, and a walk. The win went to George Fuller in relief, making him now 1-0. Cy Strom took the loss for Los Angeles.

Detroit needed the clutch hitting of Bill Austin to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Dynamos on top, 5-3. For the game, Austin had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.

"We're playing like we're capable of," said Detroit manager Roger Cleaves.

With their winning streak at 4, the Dynamos have raced to a strong start this season.
