| With 4-2 Win, Copperheads Go to 67-27 | The Atlanta Copperheads converted a terrific effort from starter Harry Inge into a win over the Minneapolis Millers at Peachtree Stadium. The Copperheads won the game by a final score of 4-2. The winning pitcher was Inge, now 8-5. He tossed 5 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. Minneapolis has now lost 4 straight.
Howard Smith, who finished 3rd in the FA in OPS with .884 last year, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Atlanta catcher hit a run-scoring single. That put the Copperheads in front, 2-1.
"Harry throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Atlanta manager Don Fox. | |
