| Mavericks Use Late Rally to Win | The Kansas City Mavericks knocked off the New York Imperials, 4-1, in Continental Association action at Dyckman Stadium. Kansas City pitcher and New Haven, Connecticut, native Cal Newman had an outstanding performance. Kansas City occupies 4th place in the Continental Association West at 44-51.
Kansas City used the timely hitting of Sam Pratt to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mavericks on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I thought we played a nice game," Pratt told the Kansas City Observer. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
