| 4-0 Win for Chicago Over Boston | Chicago starter Al Kennedy put the Boston offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his changeup in leading the Blues to a 4-0 win. In 8 innings, Kennedy surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Larry Bohnsack picked up his 6th save of the season.
Steve Roelofs had a big bases-clearing triple for the Blues in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from Austin Mayer, who finished 4th in the UL in ERA with 2.18 in 1914, and swatted a triple to right. It was his 5th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blues ahead, 4-0.
"Al went out and got the job done," said Blues manager Mike Dermer.
With the win, Chicago has a record of 27-23. Boston falls to 29-17. | | | | | |
