| Copperheads 12-7 Winners Over Minneapolis | The Atlanta Copperheads overcame a pretty good performance by Minneapolis shortstop Bill Barber, beating the Millers, 12-7, at Peachtree Stadium. Barber went 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Curly Anderson earned the win to go to 5-4. He allowed 7 runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and no strikeouts in 5 innings of work. The Copperheads have an impressive 66-27 record.
Gus Richards had a big 2-run double for the Copperheads in the bottom of the second inning. With Atlanta leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a slider from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Bob Ciaramella and swatted a double to left. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Copperheads ahead, 4-1.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Richards told the Atlanta Times. | |
