| Cougars Fall Short, 3-2, at Milwaukee | Lakefront Park was the site of a competitive game between the Chicago Cougars and Milwaukee Arrows.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Milwaukee Arrows and the Chicago Cougars, Tex Cavanaugh, who is tied for 7th in the CA in quality starts with 14, was the difference-maker. The Milwaukee right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. In 7 innings, Cavanaugh surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed 2 runs. Jim Hart recorded the save, making him 12 for 16.
Rich Moyer had a big run-scoring double for the Arrows in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Milwaukee leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Bill Bartlett, who is tied for 6th in the CA in complete games with 3, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Arrows ahead, 3-1.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Moyer said after the game.
Milwaukee is now 48-43, Chicago 51-42. | |
