The Chicago Cougars rode a solid performance from 38-year-old starting pitcher Hal Adams to a win, beating the Cincinnati Cannons, 4-2, at Cougars Park. Jim Norris closed out the game, earning his 15th save. The last-place Cougars go to 39-57.

Chicago took the lead, 3-1, on Pablo Vazquez's 10th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Cincinnati pitcher Herm Quinn in the bottom of the seventh.

"I thought we played a nice game," Vazquez told the Chicago Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
