Copperheads Pull Off Thrilling 5-4 Win in Extras
The Atlanta Copperheads beat the Minneapolis Millers, 5-4, in 10 innings, in part because of first baseman John Moreland. He was 3-3 with 3 singles. Atlanta reliever Frank Maxwell picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Ike Hawley was saddled with the loss. Atlanta has run its win streak to 5 straight.

The Copperheads relied on catcher Howard Smith for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"We put it together and came out with the win," Smith said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
