| Wolves Grind Out 2-1 Win | Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Toronto Wolves and the Los Angeles Stars. Toronto won it, 2-1. Toronto starter Red Bullock was in command. The win went to Ray Smith in relief, making him now 7-2. Floyd Warner took the loss for Los Angeles. Toronto occupies 5th place in the Continental Association East at 37-52.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Heinie Pearce was at the plate when Toronto scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Wolves to go in front, 2-1.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Los Angeles manager Charley McCullough. "The effort was great." | |
