Copperheads Claim 7-4 Win
The Atlanta Copperheads besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Detroit right fielder Buddy Ensey by beating the Dynamos, 7-4, at Thompson Field. Ensey went 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Marco Middleton, the winner, is now 10-7. He struck out 5 and walked 2 over 7.2 innings, while allowing 4 runs on 10 hits. The save went to Buddy Thomas, his 13th this season.

Atlanta catcher Howard Smith landed a blow when he belted a 2-run home run in the top of the first. It was his 11th home run of the season. With it, the Copperheads took a 3-0 lead.

Smith said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."

The first-place Copperheads, at 57-34, now lead their division by 6 games.
