| Millers Defeated, 6-3 | The Washington Eagles defeated the Minneapolis Millers, 6-3. Left Fielder Joe Cantrell deserved a large share of the credit. Cantrell was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Eagles. Sam Rodgers got the win, improving to 9-5. He held the Millers to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Doc Lindley closed the game out for Washington, earning his 12th save.
The Eagles got a big at-bat from left fielder Wally Austin. For the game, Austin went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Washington a 4-2 lead.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Cantrell.
