| Millers Drop Contest, 5-2, to Atlanta | Atlanta got a strong outing from Curly Anderson as the Copperheads defeated the Minneapolis Millers, 5-2, at Hennepin County Stadium. Anderson picked up the win for Atlanta, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 4-4. Atlanta, at 64-25, is 21½ games up in the Federal Association East.
Jim Duchesne went 2-4 with 2 singles for Atlanta. The 27-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Joe McDowell. It was his 49th RBI of the season.
