| Forrester Shines, But Suns Fall Short | Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Washington Eagles and Los Angeles Suns.
The Washington Eagles had to overcome a big game from Los Angeles right fielder Sam Forrester to leave Columbia Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-6. Forrester went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Eagles now own a record of 34-56.
Jimmy Henderson had a big bases-clearing triple for the Eagles in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Washington leading 5-4 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Bob Hinzman, who led the CA in innings pitched with 269.1 in 1973, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eagles ahead, 8-4.
"We got the victory," said Henderson. "That's all that matters at the end of the day." | |
