| Eagles Roll to 8-3 Win Over Pioneers | The Washington Eagles picked up a win at Capital Grounds, taking down the St. Louis Pioneers, 8-3. Starting pitcher Gary Nadreau was a big reason why. Nadreau yielded 3 runs over 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 5-6. Washington is now 17-30, while St. Louis is 19-31.
Morgan Ruyle had a big 2-run double for the Eagles in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Washington leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Tom Spongberg, who led the FL in saves with 10 in 1912, and swatted a double to right. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eagles ahead, 4-1.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Eagles manager Tom Moran. "This one was nice to get."
