| Mavericks Dealt 5-1 Loss | Cincinnati pitcher Moe Powell had a large part in his team beating the Kansas City Mavericks, 5-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The Cannons saw their record improve to 42-46.
The game could have flipped with no one out in the bottom of the seventh. But Moe Powell made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 2nd and Kansas City trailing 5-1, Powell threw a fastball to Louis Nobles, who hit into a double play.
