| Toronto Triumphs with Late Surge | The Toronto Wolves defeated the Chicago Cougars in 10 innings, 5-4, in part because of right fielder Chick Reed. Reed went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs for the Wolves. The Wolves move to 41-47 with the win, while the Cougars drop to 38-55.
Reed delivered in the clutch for Toronto. In the bottom of the tenth, he took a 2-2 changeup from Chicago pitcher Jim Norris and parked it over the fence. The solo home run won it for Toronto.
"This game will make a man of you," said Carl Evans, the Toronto skipper, "if it doesn't kill you first." | |
