| With 4-1 Win, Imperials Improve to 47-42 | New York pitcher Emmett Thornton had a large part in his team subduing the San Francisco Sailors, 4-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Thornton yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. His record improves to 9-3. The Imperials have now won 4 straight.
The Imperials got a big at-bat from first baseman Woody Richardson. For the game, Richardson was 1-3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 11th double of the season gave New York a 2-1 lead.
