McCarthy Leads Houston Past New York
Joe McCarthy pitched a gem to lead Houston to victory over the New York Gothams, 7-0. Houston, at 48-41, occupies second place in the Federal Association West.

It was an impressive turn from the legendarily hard-working McCarthy, who tallied 5 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing just 2 hits. McCarthy, who finished 4th in the CA in ERA with 2.62 in 1967, goes to 12-5 on the year with 117 strikeouts.

"Joe was hitting his spots," said Houston manager Glenn Carney. "It's hard to pitch better than that."
