Goodman Excels, But Pioneers Win
The Baltimore Clippers got a sterling performance from shortstop Jack Goodman, but the St. Louis Pioneers still prevailed, 10-9. Goodman was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. The winner in relief was Charlie Christianson. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 5-1. St. Louis has now won 4 in a row.

Timely hitting helped the Pioneers beat the Clippers. Prime example: the two-out single Quinton Vincent registered in the top of the ninth. Facing Davey Cronin, Vincent gave his team the lead, 10-9, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"Nervous? No," said Vincent. "It was my time to shine."
