| San Francisco Gets 6-4 Road Win | The San Francisco Sailors spoiled a good performance by Cincinnati catcher Pete Bruce, bumping off Cincinnati, 6-4, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Bruce went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win hiked the San Francisco record to 44-44.
San Francisco used a well-timed hit by Charlie Jarzombek to capture the win. The left fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Sailors ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
After the game, San Francisco manager Bob Harris applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said. | |
