| Clippers Suffer 7-6 Home Defeat | The St. Louis Pioneers topped the Baltimore Clippers, 7-6, with youngster Al Pratt playing a key role. Pratt was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Pioneers in the win. Jack Cornwell got the win, improving to 4-3. He held the Clippers to 3 runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Roy McDonald, who leads the FA in saves with 23, earned the save for St. Louis.
With St. Louis leading 3-1 in the top of the fourth, Pratt hit a cutter from Bob McKinney for a bases-clearing double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Pioneers ahead, 6-1.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Pratt.
With the win over Baltimore, the Pioneers improved to 43-48. | |
