The New York Gothams defeated the Los Angeles Suns, 6-4, at Wilshire Park. Leading the charge for New York was center fielder Mark Boyd. He was 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. New York reliever Jeff Pettigrew picked up the win, upping his record to 8-8. Jack Meeks was saddled with the loss. New York goes to 46-41, Los Angeles to 50-38.

Had Boyd not come through in the top of the ninth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Boyd hit a 2-run single. The Gothams took the lead, 6-4, and never looked back.

"You never take a win for granted in this league," said Boyd.
