Ashton Powers Chiefs to 7-4 Win
The Chicago Chiefs defeated the Atlanta Copperheads, 7-4. Doing his part was third baseman Tommy Ashton, who slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Nate Carr got the win, improving to 5-7. He worked 8 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Chicago is now 36-53.

Ashton contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Chicago in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Ashton took a slider from Howie Burt and stroked the home run to center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Chiefs to leap in front, 2-1.

In postgame remarks, Chiefs manager Ollie Howard lauded Ashton. "He's a good, young player. The future's bright for Tommy."
