| Clippers Claim Late Win | The Baltimore Clippers picked up a win at Patapsco Field, knocking off the St. Louis Pioneers, 4-2. On the mound for Baltimore was right-hander Dick Butler. He played a key role in the triumph. The Clippers sit in third place in the Federal Association East with a record of 45-40.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Jack Lewis came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing St. Louis pitcher Curly Anderson, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Baltimore on top, 2-1.
"I guess we'll all be a happy family for at least one day," said Lewis. | |
