The Dynamos benefited from a costly error in the top of the sixth. With Alberto Alvarez at bat and Detroit leading 1-0, the New York miscue allowed Detroit to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Detroit manager Roger Cleaves said.
