| Pioneers Sting Eagles, 6-1 | St. Louis turned a good effort from starter Red Kline into a win over the Washington Eagles at Pioneer Field III. The Pioneers won the game, 6-1. Kline, now 7-5, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The third-place Pioneers now have a win-loss record of 43-41.
Art Williams had a big 3-run home run for the Pioneers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With St. Louis trailing 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a changeup from Herman White, who leads the FA with a 7.9 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Pioneers on top, 3-1.
St. Louis manager Babe Johnson called it "a pretty good win."
