The Boston Minutemen got a superb performance from second baseman Hal Mazur, but the Chicago Chiefs still won the game, 4-3. Mazur went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs. The winner was Larry Barker, who threw 118 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 10 hits. Jim Queen recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 1 for 1.

Allan Griffen had a big 2-run double for the Chiefs in the bottom of the second inning. With Chicago trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Johnny Hall and swatted a double to right. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 2-1.

"They were just a little bit better than us," Boston manager Dode Edwards said.

The Chiefs sit in 5th place in the Federal Association West with a record of 34-52.
