Pioneers Come Up Short at Washington, 5-4
The Washington Eagles topped the St. Louis Pioneers, 5-4, in Federal League action at Capital Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Washington pitcher and The United States, native Billy Robertson. Bert Behrendt wrapped it up, recording his 7th save. The win gives the Eagles a record of 16-30.

Washington took a 5-4 lead on John Underwood's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Underwood hit in the bottom of the seventh, left St. Louis pitcher Mike Nipp visibly frustrated.

"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Underwood. "Those qualities define our team."
