Chicago Triumphs in World's Championship Series
A celebratory mood filled the air as the Chicago Blues closed out the season with a 4-3 victory over the Washington Eagles at Capital Grounds to capture the World's Championship Series, 4-3.

Giving the Eagles credit for a hard-fought series, Blues players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned Federally Aligned Baseball Leagues champions.

"We felt like this was our year all season long," said second baseman Pete Kingsbury, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did."

It was the 3rd in franchise history. During the Union League regular season Chicago put up a 86-68 record and finished first.

"They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected Washington manager Frank Moorman. "We played good ball, they just played better than us."
