| Marchand Stops Detroit Cold, Monarchs Win, 2-0 | In a seemingly effortless performance, Jim Marchand of the Cincinnati Monarchs shot down the Detroit Dynamos, 2-0, on 3 hits.
"Jim was just locating so well and using his pitches," Cincinnati manager Dennis Sandhoff said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Marchand recorded 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Detroit manager Ed Peacher said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
