New York Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
The home team gave their fans plenty to cheer about, with a thrilling walk-off win.

Washington catcher Howdy Oakes was sensational. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. New York beat the Eagles, 7-6. The win has New York at 3-2.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when New York right fielder Fred Davis, facing Doc Lindley, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Gothams the 7-6 win.

"If we keep winning the close games," Davis said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
