| Clippers Get Hard-Earned Win | Broad Street Park II was the site of the home opener for the Philadelphia Keystones. The contest featured a prime matchup between Dick Butler of the visiting Baltimore Clippers and Doc Carver of the Keystones. The final score was 2-1, the Clippers getting the win. Doc Carver turned in the best performance. The win was credited to Jimmy Pepper in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Doc Carver took the loss.
Mel Bahr came through with a big-time hit for Baltimore. The left fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Tough loss," said Philadelphia manager Charlie Leist. "The kind that burns a little inside." | |
