| Mechanics Edge Blues, 2-1 | Despite the rain, the fans at Cocker Park enjoyed a good ballgame.
Charlie Phipps pitched a gem to lead Pittsburgh to victory over the Chicago Blues, 2-1. The victory gives Pittsburgh a record of 23-22.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Mechanics had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when catcher Dusty DePasse hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Butts Parker and made the score 2-0, Mechanics. DePasse was 2-3 with 2 singles.
"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Phipps.
