| Washington Downs Cincinnati, 5-1 | The home crowd had a good time watching the Cincinnati Monarchs and Washington Eagles get after it.
Washington turned a good effort from starter Billy Robertson into a win over the Cincinnati Monarchs at Capital Grounds. The Eagles won the game, 5-1. Robertson picked up the win for Washington, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 18-17.
Boots Britt had a big run-scoring double for the Eagles in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Washington leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Bert Charters, who is tied for 2nd in the FL in strikeouts with 172, and swatted a double to center. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eagles ahead, 2-0.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Britt.
The loss makes Cincinnati 80-74.
