Pittsburgh Beaten, 3-2, by New York
The New York Stars picked up a win at Cocker Park, knocking off the Pittsburgh Mechanics, 3-2. Starting pitcher Harry Powell played a key role in the triumph. New York goes to 85-62. The win puts them 7½ games up in their division.

New York took a 3-2 lead on Jim Albertson's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Albertson hit in the top of the ninth, left Pittsburgh pitcher Randy Boroughs visibly frustrated.

Albertson told a New York Gazette reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
