| Copperheads Suffer One-Run Loss at Baltimore | In a tight contest between the Baltimore Clippers and the Atlanta Copperheads, Larry Warren was the determining factor. The Baltimore right-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. The winning pitcher was Warren, now 1-0. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2. Jimmy Pepper, who finished 5th in the CA in ERA with 2.68 in 1966, earned the save for Baltimore.
Cecil Gregg had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Baltimore. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Baltimore in front, 3-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Baltimore manager Hank Luckenbaugh.
The Clippers, now 3-1, have hit the ground running this season. | |
