| Eagles Rally Late to Clip Brooklyn | In a low-scoring tilt between the Washington Eagles and the Brooklyn Kings, Bob Easton, who finished 5th in the FL in wins with 19 in 1914, was the difference-maker. The Washington right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Gary Nadreau recorded the save, his 1st. After today's action, Washington sits at 15-29; Brooklyn slips to 21-23.
Had Joe Angier not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Angier hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Eagles.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Washington manager Tom Moran. | | | | | |
