Jack Beckwith pitched a gem to lead Chicago to victory over the St. Louis Pioneers, 2-1. With this game in the books, Chicago is 73-69, St. Louis 62-80.

The Chiefs got a big at-bat from catcher Andy Wampler. For the game, Wampler was 1 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave Chicago a 2-1 lead.

"I thought we competed really well," said Chiefs manager Willie Cadden. "I thought the energy was really good."
