| Saints Top Keystones to Even Record | The home crowd had a good time watching the Philadelphia Keystones and Montreal Saints get after it.
The Montreal Saints beat the Philadelphia Keystones, 8-3. Montreal pitcher and Louisville, Kentucky, native Tom Schwanke led the way. Schwanke got the win, improving to 3-7. He gave up 9 hits and walked 2 over 8.2 innings. He allowed 3 runs.
Bill Greenham had a big 2-run double for the Saints in the bottom of the second inning. With Montreal leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from George Schutte, who finished 3rd in the FL in ERA with 1.80 in 1915, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Saints ahead, 3-0.
"Tom knows how to get ahead of hitters, stay ahead of hitters, and put people out," said Montreal manager Jim Jenkins.
With the win, the Saints sit at 22-22. | | | | | |
