| Monarchs Get Clutch Win, 4-3 | The Cincinnati Monarchs picked up a win at Vine Street Base Ball Grounds, knocking off the New York Gothams, 4-3. Starting pitcher Dan Kroh played a key role in the triumph. Orval Harrison notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 2-2. With the win, Cincinnati pushed its record to 23-21.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Gothams allowed the Monarchs to score the winning run.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Kroh told the Cincinnati Daily.
