Gothams Take Nail-Biter Over Dynamos
Detroit got a terrific game from left fielder Dave Black. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to New York, 5-4, in 10 innings. Black went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. New York has a record of 12-16.

The Gothams got a clutch hit from pinch hitter George James. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to right, to win the game for the Gothams.

"Our guys refused to lose," said James.
