Larry Wurth kept the Detroit Lancers hitters from doing much damage at Thompson Field.

Detroit could only muster 3 hits and draw 3 walks against the right-handed Wurth, who controlled them throughout the game. Chicago won the contest, 2-0. Wurth added 3 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.

"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Wurth told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time."

Wurth has made 11 starts, tossed 92 innings, struck out 34 batters and walked 28. His record is 7-4 with a 2.15 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .223 batting average.
