| Pioneers Trip Gothams, 6-3 | With shortstop Frank Green leading the charge, the St. Louis Pioneers defeated the New York Gothams, 6-3, at Gotham Stadium. Green, who is tied for 9th in the FA in doubles with 7, was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Tige Bowe picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 2-4. Roy McDonald nailed down the save.
Tige Bowe threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs for St. Louis. The 28-year old right-handed pitcher had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jake Watkins. It was his 1st walk of the season.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Bowe.
St. Louis is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 8th win in 30 games. | |
