The game was highlighted by the performance of Toronto pitcher Stu Witt. In 9 innings, Witt surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. Toronto now sits at 23-19, while Baltimore falls to 16-25.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jim Bouldin came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Baltimore pitcher Harry Petrie, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Toronto on top, 3-2.
Bouldin attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
