| Stars Win 5-4 Walk-Off | The San Francisco Sailors got a superb performance from pitcher Ralph Pierce, but the Los Angeles Stars still won the game, 5-4. Pierce threw 8.2 innings of 7-hit ball. The loss has the Sailors at 2-1.
Los Angeles got a knockout punch from Ralph Barrell. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
Los Angeles manager Charley McCullough called it "a pretty good win." | |
