| Copperheads Drop Suns, 6-5 | Los Angeles shortstop Tom Lally had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Lally hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, even as Atlanta beat the Suns, 6-5. Buddy Thomas came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Atlanta goes to 17-10.
Batting in the bottom of the 11th, 27-year old shortstop Jack Finley had a real shot to win the game. Los Angeles pitcher George Cox was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Finley hit a run-scoring single. The Copperheads had a walk-off triumph.
"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Finley. | |
