| Jackson Leads Saints to 1-0 Win over Sailors | In a tightly-contested game between the Montreal Saints and the San Francisco Sailors, pitcher Tommy Jackson was outstanding. The Montreal right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the CA in strikeouts with 34, propelled his team's 1-0 win. Bob Nelson got the save, the 1st for him this season. The Saints, with only their 8th win in 27 games, could be the worst team in the league.
Montreal starter Tommy Jackson pitched like a boss. The 6-foot-0 right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 8 innings.
"Tommy made the big pitches when he needed to," said Montreal manager Harry Barrell. | |
