Atlanta Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Woods
Henry Woods did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Atlanta Copperheads from being beaten, 14-13, to the Minneapolis Millers at Hennepin County Stadium. Woods was 4 for 5 with 3 doubles, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Ben Baird was credited with the save for Minneapolis, his 5th of the season. With the win, Minneapolis boosts its record to 11-16.

Peoria, Illinois-born Gabe Peyton came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Millers trailing 13-12, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Minneapolis on top.

Atlanta manager Don Fox said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score in double digits, you expect to win the game."
