Dynamos Topple Eagles with Late Rally | The Washington Eagles got a superb performance from left fielder Al Marino, but the Detroit Dynamos still won the game, 7-4. Marino was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jim Norris earned the win for Detroit. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 9-3. Earl Shields notched his 12th save in 14 chances.
The result might have been different, had it not been for four-time All-Star Dick Tucker. Tucker had a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dynamos ahead, 7-4. For the game, Tucker had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
Tucker told a Detroit Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
