Gellatly Hits Two Homers in 8-3 Win for Chicago
With shortstop Bob Gellatly leading the charge, the Chicago Chiefs defeated the Los Angeles Suns, 8-3, at Whitney Park. Gellatly belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Vern Osborne got the win, improving to 7-4. He worked 8.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 5. The 9th-place Suns have lost 4 straight games.

Chicago catcher Al Padgett contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a slider to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 49th hit of the season and put the Chiefs ahead, 3-0.

Gellatly told a Chicago Bulletin reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
