| Minneapolis Picks Up Another L | The Minneapolis Millers took it on the chin, losing, 10-2, to the Atlanta Copperheads. Howie Burt, who leads the FA in wins with 5, pitched a strong game for Atlanta. Burt yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 5-0. The win puts Atlanta at 17-9.
Al Hubbard had a big run-scoring double for the Copperheads in the top of the third inning. With Atlanta leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Hub Huffman and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Copperheads ahead, 2-0.
"Not the preferred outcome," Minneapolis manager Harry Hammond said, when asked afterward about the game.
